At the back end of 2017 Nespresso introduced a new range of coffee machines and pods. The Nespresso Vertuo machines use Centrifusion technology to create what they say is the ultimate brewing experience. The Vertuo system boasts a wider range of coffee styles, allowing for 4 different cup sizes via three different capsule sizes with its strength being making longer drinks.
So what’s the difference between the two systems? The original Nespresso system with it’s milk facility, provides hot milk for your classic espressos, cappuccinos or lattes. The Vertuo system is about great quality coffee and rich crema whatever the cup size and can all be enjoyed with cold milk straight from the fridge.
The VertuoPlus coffee machine uses a patented extraction technology developed by Nespresso known as Centrifusion technology. Insert a capsule and close the lever and the machine spins the aluminum capsule at high speed blending the ground coffee with water and producing the perfect crema. VertuoPlus uses an intelligent extraction system that recognises each Nespresso Coffee thanks to a barcode on the rim. There is no need to change the settings as the machine adjusts the brewing parameters depending on the selected coffee and the specific barcode. This process delivers the best result for your chosen coffee in four cup sizes; the 414 ml full brew Alto, 230 ml Mug, Americano style 150 ml Gran Lungo and 40 ml Espresso, at the touch of a button. The large 1.7 Litre water tank (enough for 10 large capsules) on the VertuoPlus can be rotated so easily fits into any space in your kitchen. After brewing the capsule is automatically ejected into a dispenser for storage until they are ready to be recycled. To accommodate different cup sizes, the cup support is adjustable to two positions or can be removed completely.
Nespresso follows highly rigourous standards in selecting coffee. We create hermetically sealed and recyclable aluminium capsules locking in freshness and provide exceptional taste. For the Nespresso Vertuo we offer a variety of freshly brewed coffees and four authentic Espresso Coffees to satisfy every taste.
Each machine includes a welcome set with 12 Nespresso Vertuo capsules. Try each Nespresso Coffee and when you find your favourite you can order your Nespresso capsules through the Nespresso mobile app, online at the Nespresso website, by telephone or in one of our Boutiques.

The only negative I have found with this machine so far is that unlike the original Nespresso, you can’t get hold of third party capsules. This however is not a big problem as the options that are available provide a great tasting coffee. For me the best thing about this machine is that at last I can have a proper mug of coffee from a pod machine!
It is little more difficult to get hold of a pod holder for the Nespresso Vertuo but Amazon have a 30 pod holder that holds all sizes of vertuo capsules. It is a high quality holder with 360 Degrees rotatable design and chrome finish. Capsules can be dispensed from the top or the base.
